What the landscape regions map shows
Solid lines mark the boundaries of the major geographic provinces: the Grenville Province (which includes the Adirondack Mountains), the St. Lawrence Valley, the Central Lowland, the Appalachian Plateau, the Valley and Ridge, the New England Province, the Piedmont and the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Dotted lines divide them into landscape regions such as the Erie-Ontario Lowlands, Tug Hill Plateau, Allegheny Plateau, the Catskills, Mohawk River Valley, Hudson River Valley, Champlain Lowlands, Taconic Mountains, Hudson Highlands, Manhattan Prong and Newark Lowlands. Provinces and regions are told apart by typeface, and the key also shows the state and international boundaries and a scale in miles and kilometers.
