Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.

Clarification statement: Emphasis is on cause and effect relationships between resources and growth of individual organisms and the numbers of organisms in ecosystems during periods of abundant and scarce resources.

Performance Level Descriptions

PLDs communicate the knowledge and skills expected of students to demonstrate proficiency in each Learning Standard. NYS assessments classify student performance into one of five levels.

Gather, analyze and interpret data to distinguish between correlation and causation relationships and to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
Identify the evidence from given data for the effects of resource availability on organisms and/or populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
Given evidence from data, identify a resource that an organism or a population of organisms needs.
