The Energy and Mineral Resources of New York State map from the Reference Tables for Earth and Space Sciences (ESSRT) shows where energy and mineral resources are found in New York State. It primarily supports HS-ESS3-1.

Energy and Mineral Resources of New York State from the Earth and Space Sciences Reference Tables (ESSRT): map of New York State showing oil and gas fields, areas underlain by salt and gypsum, carbonate rock, symbols for mineral resources and 30 numbered localities

What the energy and mineral resources map shows

Shading and patterns mark the areas underlain by salt and by gypsum, the belts of carbonate rock, and the oil fields and large and small gas fields in the western part of the state. Letter symbols show where other resources are found: bluestone, cement, clay (shale), emery, garnet, gypsum, iron, lead, nickel, peat, salt, silver, slate, talc, wollastonite, zinc and rare earth elements. Thirty numbered localities, from Jamestown to Riverhead, are listed beside the map, which also has lines of latitude and longitude and a scale in miles and kilometers.
