The Surface Ocean Currents Model from the Reference Tables for Earth and Space Sciences (ESSRT) maps the major warm and cold currents at the surface of the world's oceans. It primarily supports HS-ESS2-4.

Surface Ocean Currents Model from the Earth and Space Sciences Reference Tables (ESSRT): world map of warm currents (dashed arrows) and cold currents (solid arrows), each labeled by name, including the Gulf Stream, Kuroshio, California, Peru and Labrador currents

What the Surface Ocean Currents Model shows

Dashed arrows mark warm currents and solid arrows mark cold currents in the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic and Southern oceans. Warm currents such as the Gulf Stream, Kuroshio, Brazil, Agulhas and East Australia currents carry water away from the equator, while cold currents such as the California, Peru, Canary, Benguela, Labrador and Oyashio currents carry water toward it. The equatorial currents and countercurrents and the Circum-Antarctic Current are also labeled, and lines of latitude and longitude allow the currents to be located.
